HR recruiting with Leadership skills… We can all read
about it every day but what do we actually talk about? Do HR actually recruit leaders?
First of all let’s face it => There’s no leader if there are no
follower(s)!
That implies 2 things:
1) Not
everyone should be a leader otherwise there would be no job done
2)
Not
everyone should be a follower otherwise there would be no job to do
In short: even the best driver needs a car to drive…
But then why is this constant focus on leadership
skills only (no search for ‘following skills’?) as if one can substitute a
follower but can’t substitute a leader (?)
The truth is ‘leader and follower(s)’ are
intertwined: ‘It’ will work thanks to them both or ‘It’ will fail because of
them both. They somehow belong to each other.
And THAT - my friends - is called a Partnership!
Yes! A leader is not a ‘universal socket’! … If
he/she seems to be ‘universal’ he/she is just acting. That is
all!
A leader is someone who actually chooses his/her
follower(s) directly or indirectly because ultimately the follower(s) will
choose him/her!
1) Since
the leader has a vision that he/she wants to manifest and has the ability to
convince people and to create a bilateral window of trust in space and time
2) Since
the leader can emulate a window of trust in space and time between the
followers also so they all collaborate for his/her vision to manifest in the
best possible way…
=> Basically,
true leaders are people who create their own businesses!
So HR people, please be aware when the team (‘followers’)
is already existing and you ‘pretend’ to search for a leader because that is by
definition a biased partnership (partner-shit?) where the so-called leader will
have to act to be ‘accepted’ by ‘a’ team.
Of course, most of the time it does not really work so what
happens then?
Simple: the actor 'leading' will have to compensate somehow for the bias. And it goes on and on … hopefully (?) unnoticed.

HR functions are actually far too tighten in the
Corporate World to offer the required freedom and flexibility because they simply don’t have it for themselves. So they just pre-filter ‘CVs’ for actors to set
up a defined stage.
The vision - if there is - is defined at the Highest
Executive Level of the Company and to favor true leadership skills, this level
only (!) has the power to accept incubators in order for them to manifest their
own visions under the main umbrella.
